ABOUT MCINDOE

Hello! Welcome to my brand - McIndoe :) I'm Maddy - founder, designer, tea-maker, TikToker and everything in-between. It's a one-woman show, but my lovely mama sometimes helps with all things numbers. (She retired last year, or so she thought...)

I was always a drawer, and a magpie for colourful fabrics (there was a lime green puffer jacket I was surgically attached to for a few years). I also had a habit of dressing up as Cruella de Vil until I realised how she was, in fact, a baddie (an actual baddie, as well as a fashion baddie!)

An interest in art and fashion led me to study Textile Design in Manchester - it was a science degree (!) so there was A LOT of very dense science lectures and focus on fabric composition - which ultimately is a huge advantage now.

After specialising in print design and taking a year to travel post-graduation, I returned from South America back home to South London. With a camera roll full of Carnival pics and a new taste for caipirinhas, I released my first collection of printed clothing for men and women inspired by the amazon rainforest. I still occasionally get messages today from customers who still wear and treasure these pieces from 2014!

Many, many things have changed since I launched my first baby collection - but one thing hasn't. The objective of McIndoe has always been to make clothes that make people smile, and that make getting dressed fun. (Life can be hard - and serious! So I definitely think that if fashion can be something playful and fun, then that is something that I can help with). My designs have been worn and loved by some of the funniest people on television (Joe Lycett and Sara Pascoe, to name just two) which just goes to show that having fun and being stylish go hand in hand.

I've always cared massively about using natural fabrics where possible (that Textile degree does come in handy!) - and I work with a small production team in Japur, India, printing and producing my pieces.

Thank-you for being here! You can reach me at maddy@mcindoedesign.com if you have any questions, an idea for a project or would just like to say hi.
